Marketing Intern (3 months, remote, commission)

BlueDuka is a point of sale (POS) system built in Kenya for shops, supermarkets, wholesalers and distributors: sales and receipts, M-Pesa payments that confirm themselves, customer debts, stock and an online shop. We are looking for students and recent graduates who want real marketing experience with a Kenyan software product.
Where: remote, anywhere in Kenya. There is no office: you work online and with businesses in your own area. How long: 3 months. Hours: your own, around your classes. Pay: commission only, no stipend or salary.
What you will do
- Introduce BlueDuka to shop owners, wholesalers, pharmacies, hardware stores and supermarkets in your area.
- Create and share posts and short videos about BlueDuka on your own WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok, with your own referral link.
- Show business owners how BlueDuka works and help them sign up.
- Listen to what business owners need and pass their feedback to the BlueDuka team.
- Follow your sign-ups, earnings and payments on your own marketer dashboard.
What you gain
- A role at BlueDuka for the top performers: when the 3 months end, the top-performing interns will be offered a role at BlueDuka. Top performers are the interns who brought the most businesses that paid for a plan during their internship, as shown on their dashboard.
- A certificate of completion and a reference from BlueDuka when you finish the internship. The certificate has its own number and QR code, so employers can check online that BlueDuka issued it.
- Hands-on experience in field marketing, social media and selling software to real businesses.
- Results you can show employers: your own sign-ups and earnings, tracked on your dashboard.
- Commission on every business you bring (below), with no limit.
Who can apply
- Current students at a Kenyan university or college, or graduates who finished in the last two years. Any course is welcome; marketing, business and communications students are a good fit.
- You live in Kenya and have a Safaricom M-Pesa number for your payments.
- You have a smartphone with internet and use WhatsApp.
- You are comfortable talking to business owners. No experience is required.
What you earn
This internship is commission only: there is no stipend, salary or guaranteed amount. You earn 10% of each new business's first plan payment, once per business, paid to your M-Pesa:
- Starter plan (KES 799 a month): you earn KES 80
- Business plan (KES 1,999 a month): you earn KES 200
- Premium plan (KES 4,999 a month): you earn KES 500
- Enterprise plan (KES 14,999 a month): you earn KES 1,500
