Customer debt management for Kenyan businesses
Stop losing money to the notebook. BlueDuka records every credit sale, shows who owes what and for how long, reminds customers on WhatsApp or SMS, and clears debts when they pay by M-Pesa.
Why debts get lost
Most shops, wholesalers and distributors in Kenya sell on credit: it keeps good customers coming back. But a debt written in a book, on a phone or from memory is easy to forget, argue about or lose when the book gets wet or a cashier leaves.
What BlueDuka does with every debt
- Every credit sale is recorded with the customer, the items, the date and who served them
- A credit limit per customer: a sale that would take them over the limit is refused
- Debts by age (up to 30, 31 to 60, 61 to 90 and over 90 days), so you know who to call first
- A statement for each customer to print or send, with every sale and payment
- Reminders on WhatsApp or SMS in one tap, from your own phone
- Payments recorded at the till, in cash, M-Pesa, bank or card, against the right sales
- With your till or paybill connected, a customer's M-Pesa payment from their own number goes against their debt by itself
Who uses it
Dukas and minimarts with regular customers on a weekly or monthly tab, wholesalers and distributors selling to retailers on account, hardware stores and agrovets supplying contractors and farmers, and any business that lets customers pay later.
Questions
Is there a free debt tracking app in Kenya?
Yes. BlueDuka's Free plan tracks up to 10 customers owing at a time, with no time limit. Starter (KES 799 a month) allows 200 customers owing at a time and Business (KES 1,999) is unlimited. Every new account gets every feature free for 14 days.
Can I send debt reminders on WhatsApp?
Yes. Open the customer and tap remind: WhatsApp or your SMS app opens with the message and the amount owed already written, from your own number. You only press Send.
Can customers pay their debt by M-Pesa?
Yes. Record the payment with the M-Pesa code, or connect your own till or paybill (Business plan) so payments from the customer's own number are put against their debt by themselves.
Can I stop a customer from taking more on credit?
Yes. Set a credit limit for the customer. A credit sale that would take them over it is refused at the till.
